The Inventory Control Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the efficient management of inventory, including the supervision of shipping and receiving operations. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate inventory activities effectively.


  1. Inventory Management:
    • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory management.
    • Monitor inventory levels and anticipate demand to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
    • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and integrity.
    • Analyze inventory data and generate reports to track inventory performance and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Shipping and Receiving:
    • Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, including verifying contents, preparing documentation, and ensuring timely delivery or receipt of goods.
    • Oversee the receiving process, including inspection of goods for quality and accuracy, and proper recording of received items into inventory systems.
    • Manage outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating with carriers for efficient transportation.
    • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to shipping and receiving activities, such as damaged goods or shipment delays.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other departments such as purchasing, production, and customer service to ensure alignment of inventory activities with overall business objectives.
    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to coordinate inventory needs and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  4. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement in inventory management, shipping, and receiving operations.
    • Implement best practices and recommend technological solutions to streamline inventory processes and enhance efficiency.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of inventory control initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts.


  • High School diploma or equivalent, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles, procedures, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and systems, as well as Microsoft Excel or similar tools for data analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, freight forwarding processes, and transportation logistics is a plus.
