Apollo Optical Systems was created through a management buyout on December 31, 2002, building on the pioneering work of Rochester Photonics Corporation. That legacy began in 1989 as a University of Rochester Institute of Optics spin-off focused on bringing diffractive and micro-optics from research into commercial use. Today, Apollo operates from a 21,000-square-foot Rochester, NY facility, where optical, mechanical, manufacturing, coating, assembly, and metrology capabilities work together. Our team helps product developers manage challenging optical requirements with a practical understanding of fabrication and scale. We believe strong partnerships begin with clear technical communication, disciplined validation, and components engineered for dependable real-world performance.
Barcode scanning systems commonly use illumination optics, collection lenses, apertures, diffusers, mirrors, filters, and protective windows.
