Apollo Optical Systems unites optical and mechanical engineering with precision manufacturing to make custom LED optics practical from concept through production. Our team can model illumination behavior, review tolerances, select suitable optical polymers, prototype demanding surfaces, and validate finished parts. With molding, coating, assembly, and metrology under one roof, you gain a coordinated path to consistent beam control, reduced risk, and scalable supply.

A coordinated precision-optics partner for complex LED product requirements.
Design, prototyping, molding, coating, assembly, and metrology work together under one experienced manufacturing partner.
Built on Rochester Photonics innovation and an Institute of Optics research legacy dating to 1989.
Design-for-manufacturing and tolerance analysis align optical goals with realistic, repeatable production methods.
A 21,000-square-foot Rochester facility supports controlled transitions from custom prototypes to production volumes.
Precision optics specialists focused on practical product success.
Apollo Optical Systems combines a deep optics heritage with the practical discipline required to move complex products into production. Its story began with Rochester Photonics Corporation, a University of Rochester Institute of Optics spin-off founded in 1989 to bring diffractive and micro-optics from research into commercial use. Following the closure of Corning Rochester Photonics Corporation, Apollo was formed through a management buyout on December 31, 2002. Today, the team works from a 21,000-square-foot Rochester, NY facility equipped for optical design, diamond turning, injection molding, coatings, assembly, and metrology. Apollo’s vision is to give customers a dependable, long-term precision optics partner that manages complexity, supports secure supply, and enables new designs to scale with confidence.
Custom LED optics design is the engineering of lenses, reflectors, diffusers, light guides, or microstructured surfaces that shape light from a particular LED source. The work considers beam angle, uniformity, intensity distribution, color appearance, working distance, thermal conditions, mechanical interfaces, material behavior, and manufacturability. A custom approach helps the optic perform as part of the complete illumination system rather than as an off-the-shelf compromise.
