Apollo Optical Systems was created through a management buyout on December 31, 2002, continuing a technology legacy that began with Rochester Photonics Corporation in 1989. Founded by leaders connected to the University of Rochester’s Institute of Optics, that legacy helped bring diffractive and micro-optics from research into commercial applications. Today, Apollo operates from a 21,000-square-foot Rochester, NY facility with capabilities spanning optical and mechanical design, single-point diamond turning, polymer injection molding, coatings, metrology, and assembly.
