Apollo Optical Systems was created through a management buyout on December 31, 2002, continuing a technology legacy that began with Rochester Photonics Corporation in 1989. That original organization grew from the University of Rochester’s Institute of Optics with a mission to bring diffractive and micro-optics from research into commercial use. Today, Apollo carries that practical, performance-focused mindset in a 21,000-square-foot Rochester, NY facility. Our team combines optical and mechanical design with precision manufacturing, polymer molding, coating, assembly, and metrology capabilities.
