Apollo Optical Systems brings a long history of precision optics innovation to each custom prototyping program. Its roots trace to Rochester Photonics Corporation, founded in 1989 as a University of Rochester Institute of Optics spin-off focused on bringing diffractive and micro-optics into commercial use. Following a management buyout on December 31, 2002, Apollo Optical Systems continued that technical legacy in Rochester, NY. Today, the team combines optical and mechanical design with diamond turning, polymer injection molding, coatings, assembly, and metrology in a 21,000-square-foot facility. This integrated approach helps customers address complex performance requirements, learn quickly from prototypes, and make informed decisions for production.
