Apollo Optical Systems was created through a management buyout on December 31, 2002, building on the innovation legacy of Rochester Photonics Corporation. That legacy began in 1989, when founders from the University of Rochester’s Institute of Optics set out to bring diffractive and micro-optics from research environments into broader commercial use. Today, Apollo operates from a 21,000-square-foot Rochester, NY facility with advanced capabilities for precision optical manufacturing.
