Apollo Optical Systems was created through a management buyout on December 31, 2002, building on the innovation legacy of Rochester Photonics Corporation. That legacy began in 1989 as a University of Rochester Institute of Optics spin-off focused on bringing diffractive and micro-optics from research into commercial use. Today, Apollo operates from a 21,000-square-foot Rochester, NY facility with capabilities spanning optical and mechanical design, single-point diamond turning, polymer injection molding, coatings, assembly, and metrology.
